With the rise of remote work, freelancing has become a viable career option for many Africans. In a region with high youth unemployment rates, freelancing can provide opportunities for economic empowerment and job creation.
Despite its many benefits, freelancing in Africa also has its challenges. These include limited access to resources, limited networking opportunities, and difficulty in finding clients that value quality work.
Despite these challenges, the future of freelancing in Africa is bright. With the expansion of digital infrastructure and increased investment in education and training, African freelancers are poised for success in the global market.

Temitope Olukunle Okeseeyin is a highly accomplished HR-Tech Specialist, Global Talent Consultant, and an official member of the Forbes Coaches Council. Recognized as an Upwork Expert Vetted in the top 1% of Global Talents on Upwork, Temitope is a Work Futurist, Gig Economist, and Freelancing Career Coach. As the Founder/CEO of University of Freelancing and Outnovately Africa, she has dedicated her career to empowering borderless professionals, freelance talents, young visionaries, upwardly mobile entrepreneurs, and innovators.
With an impressive track record, Temitope has trained over 70,000 talents on how to navigate the global economy, secure online jobs, enhance their financial standing, initiate side hustles, monetize their skills, and build a comprehensive digital career portfolio. Her life’s work is encapsulated in what she calls the 5M Pies of Expression: Money, Mission, Mastery, Meaning, and Megamoves.

Through her company, Outnovately Africa, Temitope focuses on global talent recruitment, assisting enterprises and organizations worldwide with their talent acquisition needs. Her overarching goal is to act as a BRIDGE, connecting African Talents with Global Opportunities. As the Founder of the burgeoning professional community, BORDERLESS PROFESSIONALS’, she convenes yearly events like ‘THE BORDERLESS SUMMIT’ and weekly conversations named ‘OUTNOVATE,’ shaping culture and defining narratives for African Talents.

A Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants, Certified Management Specialist from the London Graduate School, Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, Certified SAFe Scrum Master, and Certified AI Consultant, Temitope holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Ekiti State University and a Master’s Degree in Diplomacy and Strategy from the University of Lagos. Additionally, she serves as a Board of Director at Rotary International.
