Resigning with Dignity

Have you ever resigned from a job before? Maybe you woke up one day and decided you’d had enough of the shege (trouble) and decided not to show up at work, or maybe you wrote an email. These days, people even resign on WhatsApp. Either way, leaving a job can be an emotional and stressful experience, especially if it wasn’t by choice or the circumstances were negative. However, how you leave can have a lasting impact on your future career success.

Exit Strategy: Why Leaving with Dignity is Key to Future Career Opportunities

It’s easy to get caught up in the moment and want to lash out or express frustration, but it’s crucial to resist that urge. Burning bridges by paying evil back with evil never solves anything and can ultimately harm your professional reputation. It’s important to remember that the world is a small place, and you never know when you may cross paths with former colleagues or supervisors again in the future.

Maintaining positive relationships after leaving a job can be incredibly beneficial for future career opportunities. You never know when you may need referrals, references, recommendations, or even a job offer from former colleagues. Leaving a lasting impression and exiting with grace, even if the experience wasn’t entirely positive, can make all the difference.

How do you do it?

1. Plan Ahead: Effective exit management involves planning ahead and communicating openly with your boss and colleagues. Giving sufficient notice and expressing gratitude for the opportunities and experiences you’ve had are crucial.

2. Honesty but no complaints: Being honest about your reasons for leaving is important, but avoid complaining or being negative. Instead, focus on what you’ve learned and how the experience has helped you grow professionally.

3. Prepare for the changes ahead: Remember that the world is constantly changing, and burning bridges can limit future opportunities and harm your professional reputation. By leaving with grace and dignity, you can protect your legacy and ensure a positive outcome for all involved.

In conclusion

Leaving a job is never easy, but it’s essential to exit with grace and not burn any bridges. By doing so, you can maintain positive relationships, protect your professional reputation, and ensure a smooth transition for all involved. Always remember to pay it forward and avoid paying evil back with evil. Leaving with a positive attitude can set the stage for future career success. So, don’t let the door hit you on the way out, and exit with a smile!

In all you do, remember to unmute your mic and go global.

Hi there! I understand this is sort of off-topic but I had
to ask. Does running a well-established blog such as yours require a
lot of work? I am completely new to operating a blog however I do write in my journal every day.

I’d like to start a blog so I can easily share my personal experience and views online.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions or tips for new aspiring
    blog owners. Appreciate it!

Hello Edmund, Sorry, it took a while to respond. Running a well-established blog does require a lot of work and dedication to make it happen. It requires a lot of research and consistency to keep the ground running. I won’t say it’s difficult, but know that it’s not that easy either. Don’t chase after perfectionism, either. Just start. You will learn on the job as time goes on. Know your audience. since you want to share personal experience, make sure you are authentic to your audience. You can do it!
